i just got email from a friend saying she needs “windows cd rom driver ” , so first of all there isnt any thing like windows cd rom driver , windows is just an operating system , its a software itself and software cant have a driver , beside that windows automatically detects drivers for 99% CD/ DVD ROMs so if you want “windows cd rom driver” you must checkout that BUS cable of your CD rom is properly connected to your computer’s motherboard and Drive power cable is connected properly . it should detect driver itself atleast in Windows XP , VIsta and Windows 7 as i tried all these 3 and never installed driver for any rom .

Heres a way to fix code 39 driver error, if you get “Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing. (Code 39)” when to try to read CD ROM or DVD then its a small bug , to fix the issue follow these instructions :

Click “Start” and then “RUN” then type REGEDIT and hot enter . then expand the following folders :
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SYSTEM > CurrentControlSet > Control > class> {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

then delete any of the following names in right hand column :
UpperFilters , LowerFilters , UpperFilters.bak , LowerFilters.bak

once you delete the keys close the registry editor and then restart your computer after restart click “my computer” and checkout cd/dvd rom . i am sure it will work
